Tides Marine International Ltd have recently supplied and fitted a “Sail Track” system to the “Mersea Memsahib” a 1988 Hinterhoeller Nonsuch 30 yacht based on the East coast of England.
The owner of the yacht was having difficulty in sail lowering and made an enquiry to Tides Marine about their “Sail Track System”.
The sail on the boat is custom made and has four full length battens. The sail is contained within a custom made combination sail cover and lazy jack, made by Gowen Sails of West Mersea.
On the mast is a stainless steel external slide track with sail handling catered for by 10 slides which were connected to the sail by threaded studs (7 and 10mm) which screwed into holders attached to the sail.
The system was fitted on the 15th October and the owner has sea trialled the boat and is very happy with the performance of the sail track system particularly the speed with which the sail comes down.
